Manufacturer Warranties (Materials)

Alongside our labor warranty, your roofing materials are protected by the manufacturer’s warranty — covering defects and premature wear. Most material warranties last 20 years to lifetime, depending on the product and brand.

Manufacturer warranties typically cover:

  • Product defects or failures
  • Weather resistance (wind, rain, hail)
  • Shingle or cedar shake performance
  • Limited transfer options for resale
  • Installation guidelines compliance

Understanding Roof Warranty Types

There are different types of roofing warranties to be aware of:

  1. Manufacturer Warranty
Covers material defects (20–50 years depending on the product).
  2. Full System Warranty
Covers roofing materials and system accessories like flashing and underlayment. May include leak repair (excludes installation errors).
  3. Workmanship Warranty
Provided by The Cedar Cleaners — covers issues from installation or repair. Valid for 3–10 years depending on project scope.
  4. Labor-Only Warranty
Covers labor only (not materials). Less common and more limited in protection.
  5. Material-Only Warranty
Covers only the roofing membrane or shingles — does not include accessories, labor, or installation defects.

New Home Roofing Warranty

For newly built homes, your builder may provide a separate warranty:

  • 1–2 years for general workmanship and materials
  • Up to 10 years for structural roof issues

Third-party warranty options may be available if your builder’s warranty doesn’t offer enough protection.
